Fathers' Day
Last Sunday, we celebrated Fathers' Day in Virginia, where my mother and sister live. An ice cream sundae buffet feted Jonathan and my brother-in-law Andrew, and I also treated Jonathan to a large bouquet of sunflowers, the symbol of Ukraine. Later in the day, several of us headed to the nearby cemetery, where my Dad is buried. After gathering there for an hour to reminisce, we sang a wonderful hymn stanza:
Children of the heavenly Father,
Safely in His bosom gather,
Nestling bird nor star in heaven,
Such a refuge, e'er was given.
Great News
Sarah told us recently that she will attend Concordia Texas next fall. And last night she made it official by paying her deposit.
Yay!!
Almost Empty Nesters
Yesterday afternoon, Jonathan and I enjoyed a few hours at Barnes & Noble--drinking coffee, visiting, reading, working cross-word puzzles. With only one child at home at the moment, we're actually doing activities from our "before-children" life. What a concept!
Eighth Grade Graduation
We have two graduates in our family this spring. Here is a photo of Peter celebrating his completion of 8th grade and promotion to high school:
